You Know the Long Email You Haven't Responded To Because You Feel Like It Has to Be EQUALLY As Long? Try THIS Sanity-Saving Inbox Technique.

Okay, so you know the email sitting in your inbox that you JUST HAVEN'T BEEN ABLE TO REPLY TO YET (cue groan) because it's suuuuper long and suuuper thoughtful, so then you feel obligated to send a suuuper long and suuuper thoughtful response in reply, which basically means you will set it aside for the next six-hundred weeks "until you have more time" while mentally torturing yourself every time you log in and see it sitting there, like a bomb???

Why do we terrorize ourselves like this?

LOL.

Well, I've got news: I may have found The Cure.

Because, let's be real: you don't want to use Claude to reply to something like this, because that would be insincere. (Though I do use Claude to reply to many standard, quickie inbox requests, such as where to find my book or my classes or a log-in. That's one of the things I'm teaching in my new Claude for Business Owners class this October 🍂 —it will make you soooooo much more sane knowing that time sensitive requests like those are being handled promptly, according to the instructions you set, 24/7, while you settle into your deep work.)

Howevah. The thoughtful emails that deserve a thoughtful, sincere reply in kind? That's a human task.

Exceeeeeeept? Sometimes humans drop the ball. Because there are always 1 million important things vying for our time and energy and attention (like ice cream), and sometimes, you can't always be as responsive as you'd like.

The reason, of course, is because WRITING TAKES FOREVER. 🤣 I've spent a whole hour alone just crafting an email reply! If there are several emails that need your attention, that could mean hours a day. And, hey, sometimes you just don't got it to give. 🤷‍♀️

Enter: my hot new romance.

Wispr Flow.

Do you know how much faster it is to reply to emails by dictating your response?!?!?!?!?!?!!? 😲 I have just discovered this miracle of life. (As a writer, I tend to, errrrr, write more than I speak, but that may have just changed forever.)

You still get to be YOU, and the reply is still a human reply, and you can still offer thoughtful, considered responses, but you'll do it in a fraction of the time. (They advertise 4x faster. I'd say it's even more so.)

And suddenly, poof! Done! Your inbox has just been organized by a pack of magical cigar-smoking elves.

Now, I can't WRITE WRITE with it. Like, I can't sit here and dictate my next book. Doesn't work. 🤣 But, that's because that kind of writing requires a different kind of mental processing. (And at least four laps around the house "tidying up" while you procrastinate the next chapter, obviously.)

But for email?

Hell yes.

I'm giving this product a big A+.

And, perhaps most impressively, it doesn't type gibberish like "trypgiech" when you actually said "banana" 🍌🙈. It's dead on, and learns how you speak (unlike the dictation of every iMessage audio I've ever gotten, lollllll).

You can even use it in any app you want (Slack, Google Docs, Claude); all you do is tap a key on your keyboard, and anywhere you've got a cursor, it'll work.

I AM SO IMPRESSED.

HUGE FAN.

THREE THUMBS UP.

Worth a try if you're easily overwhelmed, feel like you're constantly drowning in your inbox, and really want to kick ass faster while remaining human.

Inbox: zero. Conscience: clean. Ice cream: in hand.

For about an hour.

Because that suuuper long, suuuper thoughtful email that's been ticking like a bomb in your inbox since week one of six hundred?

You answered it. Out loud. In three minutes. Boom.

And then they wrote back.

Shit.

How to Get Things Done When Your Brain is a Pile of Unseasoned Linguine

Every time I stare at the screen like a dummy (like I am right now), I have to remember: IT'S BECAUSE I DIDN'T SLEEP LAST NIGHT. That's always the reason. Zero creativity? Zero original thoughts? Zero ability to, like, get things done? I have to remember it's because I was up since 2am thinking about Discourse. Yes, the forum app. (What do you think about in the middle of the night, lol???) And also the wallpaper I bought for the guest cottage. There are VERY LARGE CRANES. Will the cranes be...

Boo-Yah! How to Show Up in ChatGPT (It Took Me 4 Minutes, and I Didn't Write a Word)

You know what's weird? The only things I Google anymore are the hours for restaurants and, like, antique shops. (Okay, fine: and probably wine shops.) Like yesterday. In the Catskills. This ******* place didn't open until noon. (And then I was so disappointed, because it was less antiques and more "here are some vinyl records that will make you look very, very Brooklyn cool.") (I mean, I want to look very, very Brooklyn cool, too, but I ALSO want a vintage oak apothecary cabinet that smells...

Photoshoots are SO MUCH FUN. 📸 That said, they are also one of those things you put off like you put off writing your will: not that you don't need one, but you're always waiting for some imaginary far-off time in the future when you have the gumption, the time, the headspace. Ha. And yet! Amateur headshots are still one of the #1 things that absolutely murder conversions on small business websites. They totally drag the whole thing down to the pits of hell and wreck all your hopes and...
